Tax legislation approved and regulatory update
Sales Tax - 27 June 2018
The State of São Paulo published guidance concerning the ICMS withholding rules and the system available for certain refunds of ICMS withheld.
Social security - June 2018
Guidance published in June 2018 provides rules relating to tax refunds and the interaction with social security liabilities.

Tax incentives - 30 May 2018
Saskatchewan budget bill receives Royal Assent. It introduces two non-refundable tax credits that were announced in Saskatchewan's 2018 provincial budget - the Saskatchewan Technology Start-up Incentive and the Saskatchewan Value-added Agriculture Incentive.
Tax incentives - 11 June 2018
Digital media tax credit bill in Alberta receives Royal Assent which includes measures to introduce the Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit and modify the Alberta Investor Tax Credit, as described in the 2018 provincial budget.
Various tax areas - 12 June 2018
P.E.I. Bill 33 received Royal Assent 12 June 2018. This bill includes some tax measures that were introduced in the province's 2018 budget.
Various tax areas - 21 June 2018
Bill C-74 received Royal Assent on 21 June 2018. This bill implements the passive investment income tax rules and the new tax on split income rules, among several other measures that were announced in the 2018 federal budget.
Various tax areas - 5 June 2018
Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut recently tabled their 2018 budgets. There are no changes to corporate or personal income tax rates in any of these budgets.

Customs duties - 1 June 2018
Many Canadian importers and exporters face new U.S. tariffs, beginning as early as 1 June 2018. In response to the new tariffs, Canada has announced its own countermeasures to impose surtaxes on imports of steel, aluminum, and other various products.
MLI - 1 June 2018
Finance recently indicated that Canada will adopt additional provisions to apply to the multilateral instrument (MLI) that are set to modify a significant portion of Canada's international tax treaties.

Sales tax - 21 June 2018
Canadian companies doing business in the United States will soon have to meet expanded requirements of U.S. states' sales tax laws, due to the decision in a recent U.S. Supreme Court case. The case is: South Dakota v. Wayfair.

The Colombian tax authorities have proposed regulations concerning rules for VAT registration and compliance by non-resident service providers—including providers of digital services.
