Boards need to extend their governance accountability, from often a mono-focus on finance and legal to including technology and providing digital leadership and organizational capabilities. This is necessary to ensure that the enterprise’s IT sustains and extends their strategies and objectives.

A study, executed by KPMG and Antwerp Management School (AMS), shows the added value of involving the board in technology policy. IT is not just a support function anymore. It is an essential component of an organization's success and deserves to be on the board's agenda.

Together with Samsung, the University of Antwerp and Cegeka, KPMG and AMS are offering guidance to board members to help them strengthen their technology expertise, either through trainings or by helping them set up the right governance for their organization.
