In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?
The Superannuation Advisory team within KPMG undertakes a range of engagements for superannuation funds within the market in the corporate, industry, retail and public sector space. We also assist employers for a range of engagements including default fund reviews.
Our work involves the strategy and product development, service provider tenders, mergers and acquisition, insurance reviews, investment governance reviews, administration reviews, benchmarking and advice on regulatory matters affecting superannuation funds including specialist superannuation expertise.
The Superannuation Advisory team is diverse, welcoming and open. The national team is well connected and the challenges of clients and colleagues are well understood. What does the average day look like?
There is no average day – you work shoulder to shoulder with our clients and colleagues in a variety of forms. Some days you’ll be seconded at client sites at superannuation funds, working to build better people solutions. Other days are spent working in the office on client engagements, business development support by means of completing proposals, finalising deliverables, attending training and supporting internal engagements.
When you have a complex project on, longer hours may be required to meet client expectations however, KPMG’s Agile working policy means that there is scope for flexibility in how, when and where you complete your deliverables. You’re provided you with the flexibility to manage your work and personal commitments.
What will I learn in the first year?
In your first year, you will learn plenty of market insights and new skills. As you grow your experience, you’ll develop a strong foundation of core superannuation knowledge, technical skills including analysis of data, report writing skills as well as presentation skills. You’ll develop deep knowledge of the different areas of superannuation, including group insurance, administration and investments. You’ll also learn how to develop a trusting relationship with the client and to work closely within your project team to ensure key deliverables are met.
