Careers for graduates: help clients build and maintain strong compliance arrangements.
In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?
Compliance & Conduct assist clients in understanding the regulatory environment they stand in, to ensure they have the right systems and people in place to meet their compliance obligations. Our team operates across a range of industries and regulations including:
- The Corporations Act 2001 with a focus on financial service organisations.
- The Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme (NDB) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- General compliance management practices against ISO 19600, and many more.
The offerings we provide to clients to assist them in meeting their compliance obligations are varied and tailored to the individual needs of our clients. We assist clients in designing compliance infrastructure, as well as identifying gaps in existing frameworks to better meet their requirements, compliance obligations reviews, privacy maturity assessments and assistance in delivering remediation services to clients; just to name a few.
What does the average day look like?
The average day for a team member in Compliance & Conduct is varied, which is what makes our team so incredible. Given the vast range of clients, industries and offerings we provide to our clients often times even if you’re returning to work on another deliverable with the same client you’ll be doing something completely different. Your days can consist of engaging with clients in meetings to understand their problems and workshop solutions, to collaborating with your teammates to finalise a report. There’s always something new and exciting to do, but one thing remains constant: the quality of the people you work with and their desire to support you whenever you need it.
What will I learn in the first year?
In your first year the skills you learn will set you up for life. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of different experiences, people, projects and reports. You’ll learn how to adapt and react quickly to change. You’ll learn how to present and develop lasting relationships with your clients. You’ll crucial organisation and time management skills. The list is endless, and the opportunity is yours.
What’s the best part of the role?
The best part of working with Compliance & Conduct, as well as KPMG more broadly, is the range of different experiences you’ll have in such a short amount of time. You’ll have the opportunity to sample multiple different industries and service offerings without having to tie yourself down early to just one specialisation. That way, you can truly explore what your passion is and, when you do find it, make it your own.
