Your career choices: Technology Advisory

In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?

Our clients engage our team to guide them through difficult technology decisions. We identify and mobilise opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and transform their IT operating models to improve agility and stability, and reduce costs.

The services we provide range from IT strategy development, system selection and sourcing advice, to using structured architecture methods to align capabilities with business need, managing the IT impacted associated with major business model changes (e.g. acquisitions), and helping our clients run IT like a business.

We help some of Australia’s most well known businesses leverage technology in an efficient, cost effective and innovative manner. In Technology Advisory, we pride ourselves on our culture. We bring together people from different and unique backgrounds to make the complex simple.

What does the average day look like?

No two days are ever the same. One thing for sure if that you’ll never be bored. One minute you will be supporting a multi-million dollar technology deal and the next you’ll be helping architect the future IT organisation for one of Australia’s most well known brands.

The work we do is challenging. From day one you can expect to be working with and supported by our leadership team, subject matter specialists and your peers. A typical day could involve research, client interviews and workshop participation, analysis, hypothesis and report development.

What will I learn in the first year?

In your first year, you’ll learn more than what anyone else in the industry would learn over many years. The most critical skill you will learn is how to apply structured thinking and problem solving techniques to ambiguous client challenges and opportunities. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring on delivering engagements, communicating with clients. You will have the opportunity to learn how IT organisations operate and how we help our clients align technology investments and operating models to support and shape business strategy.

What’s the best part of the role?

The best part of this role is working with a group of committed, trusted and fun people on a variety of interesting projects. Know no matter what challenge or hurdle is thrown your way, you can always rely on having an experienced team and support network behind you to overcome the biggest challenges. Our work is strategically important to our clients. So the problem solving and consulting methods we apply are world class.
