In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?

Our highly skilled Market Insights & Analytics capability helps KPMG to use their data resources for creating value, enhancing competitiveness and driving business decisions using Data & Analytics. We provide unique services to the firm through undertaking strategic analytics projects, custom analytics work, proofs of concept, and uplifting the firm’s capability through exposure to cutting edge tools and techniques to build your commercial analysis skills.

We sit within the Clients and Markets function, the centre of excellence through which various strategic programs are run including CRM, Sales Enablement and our Alumni Program – With the Market Insights & Analytics capability supporting not only these programs but the firm as a whole.

What does the average day look like?

Joining our team you’ll be working across projects that are applying data methodology to solve problems for our firm, performing one or more of the following:

  • Undertaking deep dive analysis of sales pipeline, market trends and signals, productivity, investment and commercial performance – using tools like SQL, PowerBI and Excel.
  • Solving challenging problems with Data Science and Machine Learning techniques – using tools like R and Python, and libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow.
  • Building and deploying scalable data pipelines to clean and transform unstructured data into model-ready formats.

Your average day will focus around the delivery of strategic projects leveraging these skills, including presenting findings to key stakeholders.

What will I learn in the first year?

In the first year, you will gain a deep understanding of the operational mechanisms and associated data involved in running a large professional services organisation, as well as developing data science and analysis skills to generate insights for senior leaders. You will learn the key resources and methods at the disposal of good data analysts and begin your development towards a senior analyst role.
