Rakesh is a Director with KPMG’s tax practice in Oman. Prior to joining KPMG, Rakesh has more than 13 years of experience as an experienced tax professional working with Indian Big 4 accounting firms. He currently co leads a team of more thirty tax professionals for rendering Oman corporate tax services to local and international clientele. Rakesh has rendered tax services across a broad spectrum of industries such as oil and gas, wealth funds, financial services, healthcare, media, transportation, logistics, manufacturing and services. Rakesh has extensively advised on tax matters relating to inbound and outbound investment structuring, foreign collaborations and joint ventures. He has also advised on permanent establishment issues, tax treaty interpretations, withholding tax and tax holiday claims to several Middle East, US, European and leading Indian multinational companies. Rakesh has represented clients before tax authorities in connection with assessment, disputes resolution and litigation. He also served as a special representative before the London Court of Arbitration for a specific project. Rakesh also carries working experience on transfer pricing and indirect tax matters. In addition to core tax work, he has also led and implemented unique projects around tax technology, transformation and tax risk process review engagements. Rakesh has regularly written articles on tax matters and has taken technical training presentations.
