Wassim Chahine advises a broad range of international and Middle-Eastern cross-border clients including government and public sector, as well as private equity and oil and gas services. He also overlooks the customs department and has more than 20 years of experience in VAT and indirect taxation. His track record spans a comprehensive range of services including auditing, tax planning, outsourcing, compliance, base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) impact assessments, economic substance regulations (ESR) and direct tax compliance in the UAE. Wassim started his career in the US, before moving to Dubai in 1993. He then joined an oil & gas services provider as the head of Treasury for the MENA and APAC region. Prior to joining KPMG in 2021, he was working at a boutique professional services advisory firm based out of Beirut, which he founded and led since 2003. Earlier in his career, he served as the head of a Big Four tax practice in Lebanon for four years and held the role of senior tax and financial advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Lebanon. He has been teaching accounting, tax and corporate structuring courses at the MBA and the Executive MBA programs at the American University of Beirut (AUB) for the past 23 years. He also teaches CPA, CFA, CIA and CMA courses at Becker Conviser in the UAE, Canada and Lebanon. Wassim obtained his MBA from AUB and is a qualified CPA from the state of New York, USA and is a member of the Lebanese Association of Certified Public Accountants (LACPA).
