Steve Patras
Partner-in-Charge, Audit
Steve is an Audit partner in KPMG’s Philadelphia office and has served a wide variety of clients including FORTUNE 500 Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants, private equity portfolio and privately held companies.
Professional and industry experience
Steve has 25 years of accounting and financial reporting experience specializing in SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley control assessments, acquisitions, divestitures, spin-off’s and carve-out financial statements, auditing large scale ERP implementations and upgrades, as well as debt, private-equity and initial public offering transactions.
His experience is concentrated in the manufacturing and service industries in the chemicals, consumer, industrial markets and power and utility sectors. Steve began his career with Arthur Andersen and joined KPMG in 2002. He has spent his entire career serving multi-national clients, coordinating efforts with internal auditors and supervising integrated audit engagement teams in multiple countries. Steve has traveled extensively in North and South America, Europe and Asia serving his multi-national clients.
Other activities
Steve served as a member of KPMG’s Partner Insight Committee as well as KPMG’s Training and Methodology and Quality Performance Review teams. Steve has participated in KPMG’s Lead Partner and Leadership Advantage programs, both designed for a select group of KPMG partners whom have demonstrated a consistent track record of exemplary performance and lead KPMG’s largest and most complex client engagements.
Steve is a designated people management leader, and in that role provides career counseling, goal setting, training and development, compliance, internal mobility, retention and work/life balance guidance to firm personnel. He was previously the resource management partner responsible for client assignments, performance evaluation, promotion and compensation for managers, senior managers and managing directors in the Pennsylvania Business Unit audit practice, a position he held for seven years.
Steve is a member of the External Advisory Board for Penn State’s Accounting Department within the Smeal College of Business and formerly served as the partner in charge of KPMG’s national recruiting efforts at Penn State, and in that capacity worked closely with administrators and faculty to attract top-caliber talent to KPMG.
Steve and his wife have established “The Patras Family Trustee Scholarship” at Penn State, a need based scholarship for individuals pursuing a degree in accounting, is an active supporter of the American Cancer Society and numerous charitable organizations in his local community.
Steve, his wife and their three children reside in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
