Scott Muir

Scott is a partner in the accounting group of the KPMG Department of Professional Practice (DPP), heavily focused on technical accounting and reporting matters. Scott serves as the technology sector leader within DPP as well as the topic team leader for lease (US GAAP and IFRS), long-lived asset, software/website costs and cryptocurrency/digital asset accounting matters. He is also a key member of the revenue recognition topic team and principal author of KPMG handbooks on ASC 606 (revenue) for software/SaaS companies, ASC 842 (leases) and software/website cost accounting (ASCs 350-40, 350-50, 985-20), KPMG guidance on principal versus agent revenue considerations, and KPMG digital asset publications.
Additionally, Scott is the KPMG representative on the AICPA's Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC) and the AICPA's Digital Asset Working Group accounting subgroup. He is a frequent speaker and presenter at both KPMG and external conferences. Scott is a licensed CPA in New York, Colorado and Illinois.
