Key insights
1. Embedding insurance means moving away from a product-centric approach to a customer-centric one, with 2 implications:
- With the abundance of data from customer and ecosystem platform, a one-size-fits-all approach is no longer acceptable, and clients expect nothing less than a highly customised product.
- The demand for customisation drives the need for flexibility and adaptability. Flexibility means the ability to allow clients to pick and choose their insurance product and adaptability refers to the ability to understand and work with new types of data.
2. Moving away from a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach
- As with all innovations of embedded finance, a DIY approach is highly not recommended. The market (regulators, technology providers and ecosystems) should work together, adopting an experimental mindset encouraging rapid iterations, enabling embedded insurance propositions to hit the ground running.
