Other career journeys
I've been working for KPMG for nine years. I've worked for four years in Audit in Paris, and five years in Transaction Services; and two and a half years in the Australian firm in Melbourne, where I did a secondment.
I really decided I wanted to go for KPMG - I really singled it out after the first interviews that I had because I felt that they had a very different approach, culturally speaking; I thought they were more relaxed. The other thing was that they often made it possible to gain international experience.
When I decided I wanted to go on a secondment, there's a process of course, but I was contacted by the Australian firm's Melbourne office and they arranged for me to go there. I spent two weeks there being shown around the country, the city, getting training about the Australian way of doing business and everything was done to facilitate my settling in.
In terms of monitoring people performance, that's a very important part of what we do. People are allocated a mentor, so as the Head of the TS Department I've got this mentoring role for a lot of people, but we do have all the people counseling everyone.
