Jan Martinek joined KPMG in 1992 and became a partner in Prague in 1999. After 20 years in the Czech Republic moved to Barbados and subsequently Vietnam. He was working as a mergers and acquisition director from 2016 until 2019. Jan rejoined KPMG Barbados in February 2020. He was responsible for supervision of various teams working on audit and advisory engagements and was the Head of the Information, Communication and Entertainment line of business from 2005 to 2012. Jan is fully proficient in IFRS and holds the KPMG reviewing partner accreditation. He was involved in a renewable energy project, Solek which develops solar power plants in Chile and other Latin American countries. He was responsible for opening new territories and early development. He was also acting CFO of the group. Jan worked with Unicapital, a medium-size private financial group connected with Creditas Bank. He became the Head of M&A and used his experience in various industries to evaluate individual deals from both, Unicapital’s and Creditas’ Bank perspectives, including risk management aspects given the EU and Czech banking regulations. Acquisitions were primarily in logistic center business, real estate development and Alzheimers care. He served as the statutory representative of nine Alzheimers centers in a chain. He has also worked with an audit firm, Roedl and Partner in Prague as an audit consultant where he was primarily responsible for special projects.
