Investment Management & Funds
As global investment management and funds businesses need to think and act across borders as well as nationally, KPMG coordinates our member firms’ services through the three global operating regions of EMA, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
Our cohesive approach provides our firms’ clients with a well-established service in all their geographical markets. Our clients have access to professional assistance characterized by commitment to national markets, and an understanding of the commercial and cultural differences between countries.
Our multinational investment management and alternatives teams are led by senior partners who have a wealth of global client experience and relationships with many of the major market players, regulators and leading industry bodies. We listen to our firms’ clients and understand. The result is a focus on the issues that really matter:
- Growth — the investment management industry is enjoying a period of strong growth. High liquidity in the capital markets is driving major growth in traditional asset management and the continuing growth of an increasingly sophisticated range of alternative investments. Convergence between the traditional and alternative space is occurring and this is shaping most of what our clients do.
- Performance — like the investment banks, performance in the asset management industry is primarily driven by top line revenue growth, rather than considerations of operational efficiency or cost savings.
- Risk and Governance — the fund management industry is required to operate to high standards of corporate governance, internal controls and reporting, especially in the retail end of the market. Regulators continue to play the key role in this. Hedge funds and the private equity market are not subject to a high level of regulatory intervention at present, although this is beginning to change as they begin to enter new markets where their clients require more substance and robustness.
